Wellness Step Challenge: BeachFest
NAMI Queens/Long Island BeachFest3k 2020 is now a Wellness Step Challenge.
NAMI Queens/Nassau and participating Long Island affiliates are dedicated to making a better life for those in our community living with mental illness and their families through support, education and advocacy. Working together to address the mental health needs of the community, we are committed to raising awareness about mental illness, replacing stigma with understanding and helping thousands of families and individuals each year.
As you know, we had to cancel our in-person event, BeachFest3k 2020, due to the state-wide shutdown which made it impossible for the traditional event that we were all looking forward to. In its place, we has created a virtual Step Challenge alternative, which will help raise money and promote mental and physical health, while we all remain home and maintain social distancing.
This Wellness Step Challenge will take place from May 15th-June 30th, allowing you, your friends and family to compete with each other to earn prizes from Starbucks, Target, Trader Joe’s and others! Each participant will “walk” the route from NAMI’s main office to Jones Beach and back, passing designated landmarks along the way, which will allow people to click on them to take virtual tours and take “visits”. The app feature allows so many different daily activities to be converted into steps, not just walking! Activities for physically challenged persons can also be converted into steps.
I hope that you will join me and help us to raise funds for this extremely important cause. Your support is critical and we need you now more than ever! To sign up for our Step Challenge please Click to Visit the Wellness Step Challenge: BeachFest Website
