Learn How to Communicate with Your Local Legislators to Improve Healthcare
TONIGHT, January 16th, 7-9PM
Our Speaker is Ariel Coffman LMSW, Compliance Officer at CN Guidance and Counseling Services, Inc and President of NAMI NYS
Whether come to Legislative Day in Albany (see details below) or visit your Legislator locally, join us this Wednesday to learn how to best communicate to get results.
Our NAMI QN Monthly Meeting will focus on current issues before the legislators:
1) Housing (and the lack of it)
2) Parity laws making sure your insurance company cannot limit your visits to the psychiatrist or therapist.
3) Medication limitations & the power of your doctor to give what medication the doctor feels is helpful and not have to limit the prescription to “step therapy”. This will be explained.
The above information empowers us to be effective advocates, as well as more informed advocates for our family members. These bills that are before our NYS legislators affect us all.
All of our Monthly Meeting are located at:
Sloman Auditorium, Zucker Hillside Hospital
75-59 263rd Street, Glen Oaks, NY 11004
February 12th is Legislative Day in Albany.
It is a chance to speak with your legislator. Our NYS advocacy person will make appointments specifically for you if we know you will be coming up to Albany. We plan to have a bus going up but we need to know how many plan to attend. A small fee $5 will hold your seat on the bus. Please call or email the office for more information about Legislative Day.
