Assertive Community Treatment (ACT)

TYPE: ACT serves seriously mentally ill individuals in community settings.

Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT)

TYPE: AOT is judicial monitoring of compliance with the court-mandated treatment plan.
SERVICES: AOT involves obtaining a court order. The procedure varies among Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk counties.

Mental Health Court

TYPE: Mental health court is a criminal justice court offering alternatives to incarceration.
SERVICES: Judicial monitoring assures that the court-mandated treatment plan is followed by the client as an alternative to incarceration. Mobile Crisis

TYPE: Mobile crisis is psychiatric outreach for crisis intervention.
SERVICES: A mobile crisis team is a group of health professionals, such as nurses, social workers and psychiatrists, who can provide mental health services, primarily in people’s homes.

Women’s Opportunity and Rehabilitation Center

TYPE: An alternative to incarceration (ATI) program for female offenders in and around Nassau County, NY.
SERVICE: A six month structured day reporting program that provides advocacy for pre-sentence female offenders, educational assistance, vocational services, personal counseling, life-skills workshops and assessment and referrals.
