A Mental Health First Aid Training is Just as Critical as a CPR Class
Join us for a Mental Health First Aid Training Friday, November 15, 9:00 AM — 5:00 PM
We treasure our volunteers and are much better as a result of their efforts. At the Volunteer Recognition event on July 17, we announced that we feel it will greatly benefit our volunteers and those we serve if all our current and future volunteers take a free Mental Health First Aid class. Mental Health First Aid is a highly recognized program to teach the skills to respond to the signs of mental illness and substance abuse. The program helps those who are trained to:
*Grow the knowledge of signs, symptoms and risk factors of mental illness and addictions.
*Identify multiple types of professional and self-help resources for individuals with a mental illness or addiction.
*Increase their confidence in and likelihood to help an individual in distress. And
*Show increased mental wellness themselves.
The free course will be given at Central Nassau Guidance on Oyster Bay Road in Hicksville. Lunch will be provided for participants.
We feel this class will benefit all.
